Calpak Solar Water Heater GIGA XS 300/3H
Description
Tile and carpet: Calpak Solar Water Heater GIGA XS 300/3H Direct System (Sloping Roof)
The Calpak GIGA XS 300/3H is the larger model in the GIGA XS thermosyphonic solar water heating range, stepping up from the 200/2 with a 275.1-litre tank and a larger 3.06 m2 collector to serve households of 6 to 7 persons. The bigger collector area (3.06 m2 gross vs 2.13 m2 on the 200/2) delivers 2,040W of output power compared to 1,399W, meaning faster heat-up times and more hot water available during peak evening demand. Like all Calpak Mark 4 systems, it operates by thermosyphon (natural circulation), requiring no pump and no electricity to circulate water between the collector and tank. This model is configured for sloping roof installation.
Technical Specifications:

- Capacity: approximately 6-7 persons
Sustainability Features:
- Generates hot water from solar radiation, displacing grid electricity or fossil fuel for water heating and directly reducing building operational energy consumption
- Thermosyphonic design operates by natural convection with no circulating pump, eliminating parasitic electricity consumption
- Larger collector area (3.06 m2 vs 2.13 m2 on the 200/2) captures proportionally more solar energy, making it more suitable for larger households without requiring multiple smaller systems
- Supports compliance with Kenya’s Energy (Solar Water Heating) Regulations 2012
- High-selective TINOX absorber achieves greater than 95% solar absorption with less than 3.5% thermal emission
- Tank insulation uses CFC-free polyurethane foam
- Rock wool collector insulation is non-combustible with no ozone depletion or global warming potential
- 3.5 kW electric backup heater avoids the need for a separate conventional water heater
