VPFlowScope M flow meter
Description
Ren Engineering Solutions: VPFlowScope M flow meter Energy Monitoring Device
The VPFlowScope M Thermal Probe is a four-in-one insertion flow meter for compressed air and technical gases that measures thermal mass flow, pressure, temperature, and total flow simultaneously from a single device. For building operators and facility managers in Kenya, compressed air systems are among the most energy-intensive and least-monitored utilities in commercial and industrial buildings typically accounting for 20–30% of a facility’s electricity consumption, with leakage rates commonly running at 25–30% of total compressed air production. The VPFlowScope M gives operators the data to identify exactly where, when, and how much compressed air is being consumed, enabling targeted leak detection, demand-side optimisation, and verifiable energy reduction. The device can be installed under pressure without shutting down the system, meaning it can be retrofitted into existing buildings without operational disruption.

Sustainability Features:
- Enables energy reduction in compressed air systems, one of the largest and most commonly wasted energy loads in commercial and industrial buildings, where leak rates of 25–30% are typical; the VPFlowScope M provides the consumption data needed to identify leaks, quantify waste, and verify savings
- Supports green building certification compliance by providing the measurement and verification data required for EDGE Energy Efficiency credits, LEED Energy & Atmosphere credits (Measurement & Verification), and Green Star SA Energy and Emissions credits
- VPCartridgeSwap+ circular economy programme, used VPSensorCartridges can be returned to VPInstruments for refurbishment and reuse, reducing electronic waste; each returned cartridge earns a voucher and VPInstruments plants a tree on the customer’s behalf
- Patented VPSensorCartridge® eliminates the need to ship the entire unit for recalibration, reducing the carbon footprint associated with international shipping of instruments for factory service
- Can be installed under pressure without system shutdown, avoiding the energy waste of depressurising and repressurising the entire compressed air system for meter installation
- Optional data logger provides up to one year of continuous consumption data at 1-second resolution, supporting long-term energy trend analysis and building performance benchmarking, critical for ongoing operational carbon reporting
